Since I'm on digest, I'm going to respond to a few different people in one
post re: Friday night's Patti show in LA.
<< Subject: Patti at the Wilshire
1. Good news for people needing shirts in the 2XL - they had them.
....Everyone is served. >>
Exactly! That's part of why I was so pleased to see small sizes as well. Do
you realize almost no bands today do this? When I've talked to other bands'
managers and merch companies, I've heard, very clearly, that "Guys buy merch,
girls don't," so they frequently target the male market and always make sure
there are XLs available. (I've never checked on 2XL though.) This leaves
those of us who are petite and thin out of the running. I'm happy Patti
didn't do this. Fans come in all shapes and sizes.
<< 2. The show was sadly perfunctory. Relatively. I mean, if I hadn't seen
Wednesday's pure glory and triumph, I would have been very happy with last
night's show, and it was very good, but it never once soared, the way
Wednesday's show soared from start to finish. >>
Wow! I got quite a different impression. I'm now almost glad I didn't go to
the Wednesday show. I'm still pumped up about Friday's terrific performance.
<< High point for me was Pissing In A River - she really gave it her all from
the start and seemed really in the moment during this song. >>
I agree 100%. The song took over her body and soul.
<<3. The celeb count ...Eric Erlandson....>>
Is it just me or do you other Angelenos see this guy every time you go to a
concert?
<<Designers make things for people of different sizes, but it does seem that
many are unprepared to accommodate larger people. >>
In the rock world at least, I see us smaller folks getting left out. :( I'll
start asking about 2XL though when I go on my next round of complaints to
those who make these decisions for other bands. No one should be prohibited
from buying a stupid tshirt just because the merch company convinced
management that XL is one size fits all.
<< oh yeah... when she said, "dont use foul language towards me because there
are any number of one person that will kick the shit out of you," was she
talking to the security guard? did he say something to her? >>
Has anyone figured this out yet? I'm really curious. She was taking a big
risk if she was really telling off the security guard (not that he didn't
deserve it). But if someone at the show had gotten hurt, and she "called
off" security, she would've opened herself up for a huge lawsuit.
I'd love to get a tape of this show just to hear her "You talkin' to me?"
again. Heh.
<< oh yeah and when she said that philadelphia had the best pizza, people
were
shouting out CHICAGO not TACO. lol. >>
LMFAO!!!! Thanks for clearing that up. I knew Philly was great for
cheesesteaks, but found it odd that Patti would recommend Philly's tacos
over LA's. We have to be good for *something*, right? :-)
<< "CHILDREN, CHILDREN EVERYWHERE, SELLING THEIR SOULS FOR SOUVENIRS..."
What no "orange" ones? >>
My soul is worth a hell of a lot more than the $20 I laid out for a tshirt. :)
<< Subject: A sublime Patti charms audience at the Fillmore ....
Babelogue
Rock & Roll Nigger >>
I've only seen Patti one other time in LA, and I can't remember for sure if
she did R&RN then. Does she ever play this song in LA? Curious again...Maybe
she doesn't want to sing it or feel like she has to explain it in a town that
has had race riots... I'd love to hear it live. I'm still pleased that we
got to hear Revenge though.
