Patti Smith is the recipient of the Woman of Valor Lifetime Achievement Award at a dinner in her honor, the kick-off event of the 2nd ROCKRGRL Music Conference 2005, in Seattle, Washington, November 10th. She will also be the keynote speaker at the conference on Friday morning, November 11th.
The focus of the ROCKRGRL Music Conference (an off-shoot of ROCKRGRL Magazine) is to discuss opportunities for women in the music business. There will be two days of panel discussions, a trade show, and more than 200 performances by female artists in all genres from all over the world at night in 20 venues throughout downtown Seattle.
When it came to choosing this year's recipient, Patti was a natural choice. "Patti has always been such a force and inspiration to so many women" said conference founder Carla DeSantis. "We are thrilled to be honoring her contributions."
Other participants in the conference include Saturday keynote speaker Johnette Napolitano (Concrete Blonde), Bonnie Raitt, Ann Wilson (Heart), Cris Williamson and more.
