It was Dr Albert Hoffmann who synthesized LSD-25. Actually, it was 5 years later but only 3 days after his first ingestion of LSd that he purposly took 250 mcg and experienced the famous "bicycle trip."  I also find it interesting that Dr Hoffmann is still alive and will be 100 if he lives until January!

I don't know if it was Eli Lilly's lab, but it was Sandoz Laboratories.
And the famous bike ride home didn't occur until 5 years after he licked
the lysergic acid off of his fingers, and he had synthesized it and
*purposely* ingested it.
