FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
MULTIPLE EVENTS SCHEDULED IN NEW YORK CITY FOR
bALL DOLLED UPb, BOB GRUENbS DEFINITIVE DOCUMENTARY ON
THE NEW YORK DOLLS
Throughout December, there will be several events in New York City to
celebrate and promote Music Video Distributorbs December 6th release of
bAll
Dolled Upb on DVD. In the early 70's, Rock photographer Bob Gruen and his
wife
Nadya shot over 40 hours of New York Dolls footage. At this point, the Dolls
were at the height of their fame and had inadvertently invented punk before
there was a name for it. Their androgynous drug-fueled performances
influenced a
generation of musicians in New York and London, who all went on to form punk
bands. Although they self-destructed quickly, the band's two albums remained
two of the most popular cult records in rock & roll history.
Now for the first time ever, this band is exposed in its raw entirety. The
feature length documentary, All Dolled Up, follows the band from their early
performances in New York at such clubs as Kenny's Castaways, and Max's Kansas
City. It also documents their West Coast tour and includes footage from the
Whisky-A-Go-Go, the Real Don Steele Show, Rodney Bingenheimer's E Club, and
more. Inter cut with revealing interviews, backstage banter, and late night
debauchery, All Dolled Up is THE definitive document of the New York Dolls.
Dec 6th Max's Kansas City 40th Anniversary Party
This is a Charitable Auction and Reunion Party at the Historic Hit Factory
Studios (421 West 54th Street). There will be a room for "All Dolled Up" at
this event, where a trailer of the film will be played continuously and an
auction for signed DVDs and merchandise will be conducted. This will be to
benefit The Maxbs Kansas City Project, a non profit organization serving the
arts
and NYC area youth.
