Feeling pretty lucky in Denmark after two mid-summer
concerts by the touring Patti Smith band. Had first
only a ticket for the opening night but after I heard
the 12 new covers easily decided to go both nights.
Two shows in a 1000 person venue eventually sold out.
Sang, danced and drank to first night's show with an
enthusiastic crowd close to the stage. It seemed like
everybody was dancing and singing along. Patti's voice
sounded great and after some technical problems it all
seemd to function . The set list was like from the
other recent shows. Standout numbers in my hazed
memory : under the southern cross, free money, smells
like team spirit!
For night two, I found a good angle, high and to the
side of the stage and from there hand filmed (using a
DV handicam) the concert until eventually completely
drenched in sweat.
The set list varied by a few songs from the night
before and instead of the Nirvana cover we heard the
Bob Dylan cover (reason alone for going both nights!).
