An Evening with Patti Smith to Celebrate the Birthday of Georges Seurat

Just in case you haven't seen this on Patti's website:

Sunday, December 2 at 8:00 p.m.
The Museum of Modern Art, New York

PopRally and Patti Smith invite you to join us for cocktails and a private
viewing of the exhibition Georges Seurat: The Drawings. Afterwards, there will
be a live performance by Patti Smith and friends in the Titus 1 theater.

Georges Seurat (French, 18591891) created mysterious and luminous works on
paper that played a crucial role in his brief but influential career. Once
described as "the most beautiful painter's drawings in existence," these works
captured Paris and its environs, urban dwellers, and cafi singers and other
popular performers of the day.

A fellow traveler in this world of velvety darkness and radiant illumination,
urban grit and popular spectacle, the modern and the classical, the performer,
poet, and artist Patti Smith, like Seurat, transforms the recognizable and the
commonplace into something profoundly beautiful and mysterious. Smith is
deeply interested in the physicality of her mediumwhether sounds, words, or
marksas well as the evocative power of line and light. In an evening of music
and words, guests will immerse themselves in Smith's vision of Seurat, his
art, and his time.

Patti Smith's performance starts at 9:15 p.m.
