New Patti Smith books due in March: Land 250 and Trois

Thanks Andrew for the info on the Cartier show in Paris opening March 28. 


For me the highlight will be the two Patti books that are scheduled to be published in conjunction with the show.   

The first is LAND 250 which as the title indicates, will include 250 reproductions of Patti's Polaroid black and white photographs, which were taken with her Polaroid Land camera. Significantly, the titles double meaning also refers to her signature song LAND, and it seems likely that the cover of the book will feature a beautiful shot Patti took of a Palomino horse in the South American Pampas.   

Included will be many texts by Patti, in both English and French. 
Hardback, 448 pages, with 250 black and white Polaroid photos taken by Patti. 
Size: 19 x 26 cm  

The second Patti volume is called TROIS (THREE). It will consist of three paper bound volumes of 80 pages each. Each book will be devoted to a separate aspect of Patti's art. 

 The first will feature Patti's photos of sculpture, including her pictures of works by Brancusi, Michaelangelo and Rodin.

The second volume will be devoted to Patti's great muse, Arthur Rimbaud.

It will feature many of Patti's poems about Rimbaud, as well as her drawings of Rimbaud and many photographs Patti has taken on her pilgrimages to places where Rimbaud lived and worked, such as Charleville, Paris, London and Abyssinia.

The third volume will be a Patti designed notebook of drawings, thoughts,  ideas and inspirations, which will feature many poetic fragments, song lyrics and other interesting aspects of Patti's work. .
