I disagree with the idea that we should only talk about Patti, her music,
setlists, etc. She is very political and provocative in her music, and the way
she talks with audiences at times, for example urging them to vote. And
what do you think "People Have the Power" is? An anthem for athletes, lol?
Although it actually could be that, in the sense that we all have the power to
do what is important to us. However, I think the main message of PHTP is we
have the power to change our world- we just have to get up, take action, and
open our mouths to do it- a very political stance, IMHO.
Patt's unfortunate support for Nader is just as valid to me for discussion
as might be the setlist at Lincoln Center, a new album, etc. As I said in a
previous post, it's hard for me to reconcile my love of Patti as an artist
with her support of Nader, who I think is a spoiler, and is too intelligent not
to know it. For that matter, so is Patti.
